Decoration works carried out by Williams Professional Decorators an established and reliable interior decorators Derby team.

A selection of highly durable coatings from Dulux Trade has been used in the £24 million regeneration of Derby City Council’s landmark office building,to give a longlasting and high quality finish.

Dulux Trade Diamond Matt and Mouldshield Fungicidal Matt were selected for their superior levels of durability and used throughout the refurbished space. Originally built at the start of World War II, the buildinghas since achieved a Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) rating of ‘excellent’.

Janet Robertson, Specifier Account Manager at Dulux Trade who consulted on the project, explained: “The new set up of the offices meant they will now be home to 2,000 employees – more than double the number that previously worked there. As such, any coatings used have to be capable of withstanding increased traffic. We selected Diamond Matt as it matches these needs perfectly.”

Diamond Matt was applied to the main walls and ceilings, as it is ten times tougher than a standard vinyl matt, stain resistant and easy to wipe clean, and so capable of enduring the day-to-day wear and tear of busy areas. In addition, Dulux Trade Mouldshield Fungicidal Matt was selected for the basement of the property, as it contains a fungicide which inhibits the growth of fungi and mould, making it ideal for areas that may be susceptible to damp.

Richard Wagenhauser, associate director at Corstorphine and Wright architects, the firm which designed the new look for the building, said: “We wanted a finish that would make the most of the features of the building, so we applied the paint in Pure Brilliant White, to give a crisp, clean finish. Because of the levels of durability that the Diamond Range offers, we are confident that the result will last.”

Tom Williams from Williams Professional Decorators, the company which carried out the work, added: “The Dulux Trade Diamond range is great to work with because it not only lasts once it’s on the wall, but it applies easily and has brilliant coverage too, so fewer coats are needed to get the result that both our customers and ourselves require.”
